Over the last couple of years, Colorado live-tronica trio SunSquabi have been traveling up and down the highways spreading their future funk sound to crowds across the country. The short and sweet EP is a huge step forward for SunSquabi since their, 'Thunder', was released six months ago.
The smooth synths blend seamlessly with the instrumentation on each track, creating the perfect balance of future and funk. The opening track, "Mob Boss", is a more traditional funk jam with some crunchy basslines that creep up on you. Definitely an appropriate tune to kick things off. They pick it up on the electronic side of things on "Bubs", with lead producer and guitarist Kevin Donohue's fancy synth work playing a bigger role. However, it is the third and final song that has the most bang for your buck, with the electronic stylings coming in to the forefront on the lead single and title track "Anytime".
It is hard to pick a favorite tune on the EP, as each of the songs are unique in their own way. However, each track still has that familiar groove we have grown to love from SunSquabi. You can check out the new EP below.
