GRiZ's dedicated street team, aka "The Liberators", are an amazing group that has banded together based off the moniker 'Show Love Spread Love'. Helping spread positity not only at GRiZ concerts but in their local markets as well - from planting tree's to raising over money for music education programs in public schools!
Each month we'll be highlighting a different Liberator. Asking them a few questions and finding out what they're listening too. Keep up the good work fam <3
Hailing from the Chicago suburbs, Alex has been following GRiZ since 2012. He first got involved with the Liberators shortly after the group’s inception in 2013. Outside of school and street team events, Alex likes to spend his time watching movies and listening to music.
What region do you volunteer for?
Alex: I help out mostly in Illinois and Wisconsin. I try to get out to as many volunteer events as possible. Hopefully I'll be able to help out in some of the other regions in the near future!
What is your favorite song by GRiZ?
Alex: Wax City or Up In Smoke!
What is your favorite late night snack?
Alex: Caramel Popcorn!
When was the first time you caught GRiZ perform live?
Alex: The first time I saw GRiZ perform was at the Rave in Milwaukee back in 2012. He had that awesome pyramid stage with him!
Who inspires you the most?
Alex: I'd have to say my dad. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's, a nerve disease, about a year ago. He inspires me because he doesn't let it get the best of him and he's always staying positive and pushing through.
Any specific philanthropies you personally advocate for?
Alex: Feed My Starving Children & Parkinson's Disease Foundation (PDF)
What is your favorite music venue?
Alex: For bigger shows, The Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, I love everything about that venue. For the smaller shows... definitely The Bottom Lounge (Chicago).
Who is your favorite artist on All Good Records?
Alex: Aside from GRiZ, I would have to say Freddy Todd. Especially with his latest Khrysos EP!
If you had to chose, what would be your favorite All Good Records memory to date?
Alex: It would have to be my first time at Red Rocks this past summer. Seeing GRiZ headline there for the first time with the whole crew. Otherwise, my first event working as a Liberator at the Aragon Ballroom during the "Say It Loud" tour. Both moments hold a very special place in my heart :)
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Alex: Well, since I graduate college in mid 2016, I hope to me making art for some of my favorite musicians as well as running my own small business. Plus, I hope to be even more involved with the Liberator movement!
Thanks to Alex for all of his hard work and support. If you see Alex out and about in Chicago, or at an All Good Records concert, make sure to say hello and give him a hug!
