Born and raised in Detroit, Josh Hanford progressively developed a true passion for photography. Using his creative skills, Josh set out to expose the world’s beauties using his own particular vision.
Josh had a knack for photography starting in his early years. After receiving an education in motion graphics, he was able to apply these technical skills as well as his love for photography to begin his career path. Ranging from elegant wedding albums to off-the-chart rock and roll music videos, Josh’s expertise began to vary.
Originating from Detroit, documenting the beautiful culture and essence of Detroit is one of Josh’s true passions. Using that fire, he took the initiative to provide a platform for the city to be seen again. Geared towards unveiling the city’s hidden gems his first venture "Detroit Exposure" was born. Learning from the trials and tribulations, the new company helped motivate Josh to push himself to the next level.
After leaving Detroit Exposure, Josh found his own lane as a photographer and quickly linked up with GRiZ to document the making of his latest album Say It Loud. One look at Josh's instagram and you'll recognize the mans craft. An epic GRiZ performance, newlyweds tying the knot, commercial ads and a passion for motorcycles and world travel. In all of his work, Josh aims to suck his viewers into the photo or video by capturing the moods and emotions of that moment. To Josh, it’s more than just being creative, it’s about telling a story through a succession of photos. He claimed this to be one of the most powerful forms of expression.
When deciding on a new project or looking for inspiration Josh turns to researching the world's current events. To keep his work and his mind flowing, Josh uses everything around him to take inspiration and keep developing new creations.
Currently, Josh has projects in the works with Blake’s Hard Cider and has just recently finished a music video for the band Wilson. While concentrated on the business aspect of it all, Josh also plans to spend some of his summer at different music festivals and multiple live events in the near future. When asked what type of music Josh prefers... "perhaps something pretty angry or weird, the weirder the better."
